­CLAY CLASS

Whether it's a beginners course or an in-depth introduction to ceramics: in a small group, you will learn about the diversity of the ceramics craft - from hand-building techniques to decoration and glazing.
In a guided process, you can create your own objects, from plates to sculptures, with the help of your newly learnt skills.

Depending on whether you choose the 4-hour taster-session or the 6-to-10-hour intensive class, the classes proceed as follows:

• 4 to 8 hours: You will learn hand-building techniques like coiling or pinching, as well as foundational knowledge about ceramics. After a practical introduction, we will develop your design together, and I will support you at every step of the process.
• Glazing / After your first pieces have been bisque-fired at 980°C, they can be glazed and fired up to 1250°C
  - 4 hour session: You can choose a glaze, and I will glaze your pieces for you.
  - 6 or 10-hour class: On the second or third session, you can glaze your pieces yourself for 2 hours.

No previous experience with clay is required.

NERIAGE SESSION

What is neriage about? You take 3 clay colours of your choice and learn how to make diverse and unique patterns of your own. Get creative and see the application of your patterns in the form of a vase, mug or nesting bowls. 

The class proceeds as follows:

• 2 hours: You will learn about ceramics through a specific technique called Neriage. This involves creating your own patterns using colored clays and shaping them with the help of templates. Using the leftover clay, you will try a second technique to make a plate. I will guide you through each step of the process.
• After your pieces have been bisque-fired at 980°C, I will glaze and fire them at 1250°C.
• I will notify you as soon as your pieces are ready. This usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.

No previous experience with clay is required.

› Materials, tools and firing-costs are included in the price.
› Payment in advance is required so as to confirm your participation.
› You can book until 7 days before the class.
› If for any reason you cannot come, please cancel your class at least 7 days in advance by email to get a full refund, after that deadline only 70% will be refund.
› Classes can be given in german, english and/or french, or in a mixture of all of these! I adapt myself to the participants.
